Fuengirola’s Social Guardian app to determine the occupancy of a space through IoT, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning

In response to the occupancy control requirements resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, Fuengirola has developed Social Guardian, a cutting-edge technological solution which uses the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning to calculate the current occupancy level of a given space. This solution consists of three modules:

  • The hardware module: sensors that gather information about areas in real time. There are two kinds of sensors: - 3D optical sensors, which are able to perform real-time analysis and differentiate between the different objects present. - Climate sensors, which are able to monitor variables like the temperature, humidity, wind speed, air quality and noise levels.
  • Cloud software: a tool used by management bodies to control how the different sensors operate and analyse the information they have collected. It consists of two concepts:
    • A control panel, which allows real-time monitoring of the different pre-established variables.
    • A management tool, through which the hardware can be managed remotely, warnings can be sent to communication modules and messages can be sent to users via the mobile app.
  • Communication elements: used to inform users of the status of a space at any time via various means, including an app.
