Safe Tourism Certified, quality management and standardisation of COVID-19 protocols

Quality management and protocol standardisation to tackle COVID-19 have not only contributed towards introducing appropriate levels of control over spaces and compliance with measures; they have also served as a means to promote and improve destinations' images.

The Safe Tourism Certified seal is an award given by the Board of Directors of the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE), which companies, organisations and tourist resources from 21 different sub-sectors, including beaches, tourist information offices, travel agencies and tourist hotels and apartments, can voluntarily sign up to.

Marbella worked to achieve this seal for its beaches, conference centres, tourist offices and landmark buildings. The destinations of Santa Susanna and Conil de la Frontera, meanwhile, received this certification for their tourist offices, guaranteeing that their tourist information services were provided safely. Finally, Santander received this seal for its beaches, promoting their high quality and proper management.
