Accessible guidance system in Altea’s Properties of Cultural Interest

During the year 2021, Altea Town Council implemented NaviLens reading codes in different points of tourist interest at the destination.

These reading codes are designed for visually impaired people. Thus, using a mobile application created specifically for reading these codes, they are scanned in the same way as a QR code. The added value of this technology is that they can be scanned at a distance of over 15 metres, without the need to adjust the camera lens and in any light conditions.

Once the mobile device detects this code, it automatically displays tourist information, audio descriptions and texts in easy read about the space in which the visitor is located at that moment.

In Altea, they are installed at points of interest, such as the Baluarte and the Recinto Renacentista de Altea (declared a Property of Cultural Interest in 2013), which form part of the Property of Cultural Interest Route.

Thanks to this tool, any user is guaranteed access to the tourist information available at the destination and can therefore enjoy a satisfactory experience there.
