Our seabeds, especially in the surroundings of Punta de la Mona and the Cerro Gordo Natural Area, are internationally recognized by diving lovers, in addition, given the excellent thermal conditions and the unique orography of the destination, it is a recommended place for paragliding and hang gliding.

At present, an important plan for the digitization and modernization of its tourist services is being undertaken.

An important project with 24 actions, among which the “Almuñécar La Herradura Underwater Park” stands out, an innovative project, generator of marine life and blue economy that will give a new dimension to the tourist offer of the municipality.

The Tourist Board is constantly working to promote co-governance, articulating cooperation mechanisms between the institution and the business associative fabric of a tourist and commercial nature, as well as with groups involved in the preservation of the marine environment and environmental care, making them participants in decision making.

That is why, aware of all the tourist potential and the effort still remaining to turn Almuñécar La Herradura into a great, sustainable and attractive tourist product, which recovers its character as an enlightened, dynamic and wealth-generating infrastructure, they opted for the methodology of Smart Tourist Destinations to address the sustainability of Almuñécar as a tourist destination, since it allows addressing three fundamental issues for both the City Council and the Board of Trustees: SUSTAINABILITY, DEMOGRAPHIC CHALLENGE AND DIGITALISATION.
