Ayamonte, a town located in the south-western corner of Andalusia —more precisely in the province of Huelva—, straddles the Guadiana River as it reaches the sea, in a privileged location right on the border with Portugal.

Ayamonte joined the Smart Tourism Destinations Network in 2019, and its Diagnosis Report and Action Plan were drawn up in 2021 for its ultimate transformation into a Smart Destination.

The destination targets sustainability from all three angles, and has shown how adept it is at protecting its natural environment and biodiversity.
