Castropol is an Asturian council, bordering Galicia.
The Castropol Council has 9 parishes: Balmonte, Barres Castropol, Figueras, Piñeira, Presno, San Juan de Moldes, Seares and Tol.
It has a total area of 126 km2 and a population of 3,300 thousand inhabitants.
The destination is characterized by nautical, gastronomic and Camino de Santiago tourism. It has 2 beaches, with blue flags and the Ría Eo, declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2004.
Castropol is a beach, it is nature and mountains: 80% of the Council is rural tourism, with a wide range of activities and hiking routes, with an excellent offer of rural accommodation, camping, hostels, hotels and apartments. In gastronomy, the Oyster Festival and the wide variety of typical Asturian products stand out, as well as in crafts, the Pixota Craft Fair stands out.
The urban centers of Castropol and Figueras are declared Assets of Cultural Interest, through their streets and architecture you can breathe the history of Indians, and popular culture and legends. In addition, Castropol is a step on the Camino de Santiago.
Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme | Castropol joined the Smart Tourism Destinations Network in 2019, and at the beginning of 2020 its first Diagnostic Report was completed, which has been reviewed with the new methodology in April 2024. |
