To the south of the Bay of Cadiz and bathed by the waters of the Atlantic, Chiclana de la Frontera has become a major tourist enclave thanks to its unrivalled beaches at La Barrosa and Sancti Petri.
Eight kilometres of fine white sands, a clean blue sea and a full range of services and amenities have earned it the most coveted awards. Its salt marshes and pine forests are of immense ecological value, and its sunsets are a true wonder of nature.
Chiclana de la Frontera is also sport. Its infrastructures and the strategic location of its sports facilities have made this city a haven for lovers of all sorts of sports. This, plus a great climate, makes the location an ideal venue for outdoor sport.
Further highlights include its historical attractions, so visitors should take a stroll through the town centre to discover its rich and varied cultural heritage in the form of numerous churches and museums. The city dates back to Phoenician times, with the main exponent of this culture being the El Castillo archaeological site.
It would be a sin for visitors not to enjoy the rich and varied gastronomy and visit the lively market, where visitors can find excellent horticultural products, seafood, its “”estuary”” fish and its cured meats and sausages, such as butifarra and chicharrones (pork rinds).
Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme | Chiclana de la Frontera joined the Smart Tourism Destinations Network in 2020, and its Diagnosis Report and Action Plan were drawn up in 2021 for its ultimate transformation into a Smart Destination. |
