The region of Las Hurdes, located in the north of the province of Cáceres (Extremadura) is made up of 6 municipalities which are: Caminomorisco, Casar de Palomero, Casares de Las Hurdes, Ladrillar, Nuñomoral and Pinofranqueado, in addition to the minor entity of Azabal and 40 farmhouses.
The destination has a population of approximately 5694 inhabitants and a surface of 499km2.
The landscape of Las Hurdes shows mountains and steep valleys, meanders, waterfalls, reservoirs, rivers and streams, which have been worked by man creating terraces or farming terraces. Likewise, the slate architecture that make up small farmhouses is a symbol of authenticity.
But if something stands out in this destination, are the myths and legends of Las Hurdes, of ancestral origin and that survive in the culture and tradition of its people through festivals and events full of mystery, magic and esotericism.
The tourism sector is one of the key socioeconomic axes of the region along with agriculture, hence its commitment and commitment to the Smart Tourist Destinations model.
