Ribagorza is the most northeastern region of the province of Huesca, being the largest of the Pyrenean regions. It is made up of 34 municipalities and 192 population centers in 2,460 km2 and around 12,500 inhabitants. Its political and economic capital is Graus and its cultural capital is the town of Benabarre.
It has impressive natural landscapes on any of its slopes, Ésera, Isábena or Noguera Ribagorzana, highlighting the Posets-Madaleta Natural Park with its impressive Aneto peak at 3,404 meters of altitude; its extensive cultural and ethnographic heritage that ranges from the paleontological with its ignites and dinosaur remains in Arén, in Beranuy and in Serraduy, through the abundant and delicious Romanesque, and reaching its unique traditions and its rich gastronomy. The destination is leading and stands out in active tourism, snow, rivers and mountains. A set of charming towns and some places transcend it with their beauty, such as Roda de Isábena, and others with their spirituality such as Torreciudad or the Lamasario de Panillo.
Ribagorza’s economy depends on the agri-food industry, livestock, agriculture, forestry management and the hydroelectric sector, but to a large extent on the tourism sector. Hence its commitment to the DTI model.
