It is said of Guara Somontano that it encloses many worlds in one, because a few kilometers away, it allows you to go from alpine shady to vineyards with a Mediterranean essence; from the steep cliffs of the Sierra de Guara, to the undulating mountains covered with olive trees.
The variety and richness of landscapes has earned this region that more than a quarter of its surface is protected by European regulations. The most important spot is the Natural Park of the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara, one of the largest protected areas in Aragon, known throughout the world for the spectacular nature of the deep canyons sculpted by the rivers, the rain and the air.
Guara Somontano is also a place to experience a great adventure through all kinds of routes, from the most demanding sports itineraries to short walks for the whole family.
To the extraordinary variety of landscapes, this territory adds the richness of its historical heritage. The depths of the mountains keep a splendid set of cave paintings, World Heritage, and the entire territory is dotted with beautiful buildings, from Romanesque to Baroque, and beautiful historical sites, such as Alquézar or Barbastro.

| Outstanding initiatives

- Consolidated commitment to planning and strategy in tourism policies, such as the Saborea Somontano Plan and the Plan, which include extensive participation, measurement and monitoring processes and establish roadmaps for the coming years.
- Creation of numerous innovative tourism products of relevance that allow it to increase its tourist target and promote itself as a multi-product destination, as in the case of astrotourism, Nordic walks or festivals.
- Union and joint work for the promotion beyond the borders of the territory under the PREPYR 365 brand, where public-private collaboration allows promoting numerous travel proposals in the Aragonese pre-Pyrenees.
- Certification of the Somontano de Barbastro Region and 8 companies by the Club Ecoturismo España, sponsored by the Secretary of State for Tourism since 2010, which will allow it to offer its tourists ecotourism experiences in protected natural areas, guaranteeing the traveler his contribution to local development and biodiversity conservation.
- Inclusion of accessibility in various areas of day-to-day management, implementation and planning of a destination, such as human resources, tourist plans, regulations, resource inventories, web accessibility, and in the very near future in visits and information at the Tourist Office of the Region located in Alquezar.
