Located in the centre of the Basque Country, this region of Gipuzkoa is made up of the municipalities of Deba, Eibar, Elgoibar, Ermua, Mallabia, Mendaro, Mutriku and Soraluze. In this territory everything is within easy reach, the mountains and the sea, the meadows and the saltpetre, the rural and the urban.
On the coast of Debabarrena is the UNESCO Geopark of the Basque Coast, a unique natural destination that combines spectacular landscapes and a valuable geological heritage. The flysch is reminiscent of an open book where each layer of rock narrates millions of years of history of ancient oceans.
In addition, on the coasts of Deba and Mutriku you will find beaches and natural pools to suit all tastes.
Nature lovers will find well-marked and signposted trails that run along impressive coastal cliffs, holm oak forests and hidden valleys.
The interior of the region has played a key role in the industrial development of Gipuzkoa. You will be able to discover the industrial heritage of a town with a great tradition in the arms industry and where a large number of Basque companies have been born.
Soak up the entrepreneurial and innovative DNA of Basque industry by visiting the Makina Erramienta Museum in Elgoibar or the Arms Industry Museum in Eibar.
