Esplugues is located in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, on the flat part of the Llobregat River. It has an area of 4.60 km² and an altitude of 110 metres above sea level.
Geographically, the municipality borders the city of Barcelona and the municipalities of Cornellà de Llobregat, Sant Joan Despí, Sant Just Desvern and l’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
It has a population of 48,735 inhabitants. Each neighbourhood has its own personality thanks to its history, facilities, entities and, of course, its neighbours.
It is the smallest municipality in Baix Llobregat. A city with a diversified economy based on services, it has a commercial activity with tradition and roots.
The intense associative life and the cultural, civic and sports facilities make Esplugues a municipality with activities for everyone all year round.
It has a unique cultural heritage, with an old town of great beauty that is conveyed by magical places, such as Montserrat Street and the Espai Corberó, and a ceramic past that is disseminated through the Museums of Esplugues.
A network of parks and gardens spread throughout the city contributes to making Esplugues a green municipality.
