Spanning approximately 8,970 hectares, the city of Granada is integrated into a natural space that coincides with part of the Vega region and the outlying reliefs, located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, in the eastern part of Andalusia.
Its privileged geographical position is conducive to strong economic and tourism development, due to its importance as a communications hub between Andalusia, the Levant and the rest of Spain.
In recent years, Granada has cemented its status as a leading urban tourism destination, thus helping to make tourism one of the most important economic activities within the city.
Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme |
The city of Granada joined the Smart Tourism Destinations programme in 2020, and its Diagnosis Report and Action Plan were drawn up in 2021 for its ultimate transformation into a Smart Destination. |
