Sierra Morena de Sevilla is a region of Seville with its own unique identity, comprising the following municipalities: Alanís, Almadén de la Plata, Cazalla de la Sierra, Constantina, Guadalcanal, Las Navas de la Concepción, El Pedroso, La Puebla de los Infantes, El Real de la Jara and San Nicolás del Puerto.
Sierra Morena de Sevilla plays home to a valuable natural jewel in the form of its nature reserve, which has been declared a Geopark by UNESCO. Sierra Morena de Sevilla also boasts an extensive cultural heritage and historic and artistic monuments such as Moorish castles, churches and hermitages of Christian tradition and prehistoric sites. Highlights includes its handmade and zero-km products, such as wines and anisettes, sweets, oils, cured meats and sausages, and its gastronomy featuring a predominance of game meats.
It spans a total area of 2,383 km2 and has a population of some 25,000 inhabitants.
The commercial sector, together with agriculture, tourism and public services (education, health, etc.), are its main economic activities.
Sierra Morena de Sevilla is characterised by nature tourism, as well as ornithological, gastronomic and cultural tourism.

Sierra Morena de Sevilla joined the Smart Tourism Destinations programme in 2020, and its Diagnostic Report and Strategic Lines/Action Plan were drawn up in May to June of 2021 for its ultimate transformation into a Smart Destination. |
Outstanding initiatives

- The Society for the Promotion of Economic Development and Tourism (PRODETUR), attached to Seville Provincial Council, plays an important role in the tourist management of the destination.
- The Rural Development Group (RDG) of Sierra Morena de Sevilla also plays a pivotal role by fostering local innovation and entrepreneurship which in the framework of the participatory Local Development Strategy.
- There is a permanent think-tank to spot social and territorial needs, thus allowing the RDG to focus its efforts on resolving these needs.
- The Andalucía Emprende programme and AndalucíaLab are working to combine innovation with tourism.
- Seventy-five per cent of the territory is a protected natural space, falling within the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Nature Reserve, which is also a UNESCO Geopark.
- Support is given to local entrepreneurs, to zero-km companies and to artisan producers.
- Of particular note is the Sustainable Tourism Event Management tool and the efforts to raise awareness through the sustainable local economy project.
- Further highlights include the progress made towards recovering and improving cultural heritage.
- Work is also targeting accessible tourism.
