Palma is a honey-coloured city made of stone, walls and open courtyards. A melting pot of a city that combines —with surprising harmony— Roman, Muslim and Christian influences. With the Cathedral of Mallorca as its iconic watchtower, its old quarter —one of the largest and best preserved in Europe— invites visitors to discover all its hidden charms.
The city has a wide, varied and irresistible selection of bars and restaurants open for lunch or dinner. It also has a network of municipal markets that appeal to all the senses (thanks to their dazzling colours, atmosphere, smell and culinary delights).
Each market, whether it is a produce market or a gastronomic market, has its own unique personality, intrinsically linked to the neighbourhood in which it is located. There is a huge selection of products, focusing on local, zero-km produce, though you can also find fusions of local produce with cuisines from all over the world.
The municipality boasts beautiful natural and heritage sites, such as Bellver Castle and surrounding forests, the island and National Park of Cabrera, or even the kilometre-long Playa de Palma beach, an excellent area for strolling and bathing that is shared and enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.
But the most remarkable thing about Palma is that it is a city with immense charm. Its streets, its history, its people, its cuisine and its shops all exude charm… all of which can be enjoyed by taking any of the urban routes available to visitors, not to mention the enormous charm and appeal of its hotels and other forms of accommodation.
With a broad and renewed offering, visitors will feel more than at home, which is what matters the most. To suit all tastes, colours… and hotels in Palma: located in stately old buildings in the old quarter (typically 4- or 5-star), including boutique hotels, with views of the sea and the cathedral, on the seafront, with signature cuisine, multi-purpose spaces for events, both modern and classic… What do they all have in common? It is their passion for Palma and their desire to share the city with their guests. Just like at home, only better.
Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme | Paloma joined the Smart Tourism Destinations programme by drawing up the Diagnostic Report and Action Plan needed to turn it into a Smart Destination, which it carried out in January of 2014, later renewing its commitment in April of 2021. |
