The town of Salobreña extends at the foot of a Muslim Spanish castle in the so-called Costa Tropical, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
Its long beaches and pleasant temperatures make it an ideal destination throughout the year. The tropical fruits that grow here are mixed with local fish and seafood to create succulent recipes. From here, the traveler can enjoy a multitude of coastal towns, suitable for water sports and outdoor activities.
Salobreña’s privileged coastal location has provided it with excellent beaches where numerous tourist complexes are located. Its varied hotel and leisure offer is completed with an interesting historic center of whitewashed facades that are arranged around its Arab fortress. And it is that Salobreña traces its origins to the Phoenician era. Founded as a commercial colony, it was also populated by Romans and Arabs until it was reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs. Pirate attacks caused the city to be walled and its inhabitants chose safer places in the mountains. Currently, its excellent tropical climate, with temperatures between 15 and 32 degrees, attracts visitors throughout the year.
Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme | Salobreña joins the Smart Tourism Destinations programme in September 2020 and has completed the diagnosis process in 2024, for its transformation into a Smart Tourism Destination. |
