San Fernando: A paradise between sea breeze and history.

Located in the heart of the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, San Fernando is the perfect destination to relax in the sun, enjoy the sea breeze and enjoy its varied cultural, natural and gastronomic offer.

Strolling through its streets, squares and avenues, San Fernando appears to the good observer as a real forest of white battlements, viewpoints and balconies, cornices and multiform niches in a unique and personal interpretation of living the lime and stone.

Every corner in San Fernando is witness to important historical episodes. Popularly known as ‘La Isla’, our destination has a lot to tell. Through the La Isla de las Cortes Route, you will be transported back to 1810, reliving the moments that gave rise to the First Spanish Constitution. The San Fernando and the Navy Route will take you to its rich military heritage, testimony to its deep connection with the navy. And for flamenco lovers, the Camarón de la Isla Route takes in the most significant places in the life of this world flamenco icon, from his birthplace to the Interpretation Centre that bears his name.

San Fernando also has the largest number of kilometres of trails in the Bay of Cadiz, a natural paradise where you can disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle through a fascinating landscape of marshes, salt marshes and dunes. A paradise of emotions to discover, feel, enjoy and live intensely.

 

Admission to the Smart Tourism Destinations Programme

 San Fernando joined the Smart Tourist Destinations programme through the preparation of the Diagnostic Report for the transformation of San Fernando into a Smart Tourist Destination, carried out in September 2024.

Outstanding initiatives

 
  • The Professional Tourism Board has been set up as a tool for public-private collaboration.
  • The DTI Interdepartmental Commission has been created.
    It articulates its cultural offer under three themes: La Isla de las Cortes, San Fernando y la Armada and Camarón de la Isla.
  • Event tourism: the city works to deseasonalise tourism with more than 300 events and proposals throughout the year: entertainment, music, gastronomy ….
  • Camposoto, a five-star beach.
  • Distinguished with the Q for Quality and located in the Bay of Cadiz National Park, it stands out for its accessibility and integration services with its 5-star module, a pedestrian and cycle path to Punta Boqueron, a Natural Monument of Andalusia, and a space for tourism with pets.
  • The tourism website includes virtual visits to cultural and natural areas of the destination.
  • It has a strategic Tourism Quality Plan.
