Can Picafort is a coastal village in Mallorca that belongs to the municipality of Santa Margalida. It is located in the Bay of Alcudia, about 10 kilometres from Santa Margalida, to the northeast of the city of Palma, on the north coast of the island. It lies between two important nature reserves: S‘Albufera Nature Reserve and the Son Real Public Estate.
The historical heritage of the municipality is one of the most important representations of our culture. The municipality has a large number of cultural and heritage assets and attractions that tourists can visit in and around its three population hubs: Santa Margalida, Can Picafort and Son Serra de Marina.
The history of Can Picafort began a little over a century ago, when some well-to-do families from Santa Margalida decided to build their summer homes in this area. Today, Can Picafort is a tourist destination in Mallorca featuring a wide range of hotels and restaurants. In the early 1970s, Can Picafort was a small fishing village with just 200 inhabitants. Over the years it has developed into a tourist destination able to accommodate more than 10,000 tourists.
