The municipality of Tapia de Casariego is located on the western coast of Asturias.
It has about 3,700 inhabitants and an area of 66 km2 that extends from the coastal area to an interior that is characterized by gentle hills and deep valleys.
It stands out for its strong links to fishing and the conservative industry, although corn is the protagonist of the field. Not in vain, Tapia was the first European port in which corn from America was landed.
Its capital, of the same name, is one of the most beautiful and touristic fishing villages in western Asturias and one of its beaches, Anguileiro, is considered the cradle of surfing in Asturias. Tapia has a long history (fortress settlements or Roman gold mining) and a Natura 2000 Network coastal and river natural heritage that can be discovered through its cycle hiking network.
