Tías is a municipality located in the southeast of the island of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands archipelago. The island, of volcanic origin, is the oldest of the Canary Islands.
The towns and villages that make up the municipality include its capital, Tías, the tourist area of Puerto del Carmen on the coast and the inland villages of Mácher, La Asomada, Conil and Masdache. It spans a total of 64.6 km2 and is located 12 kilometres from Arrecife, the capital of the Island of Lanzarote.
At present, the main economic activity is tourism, hence its commitment to make further progress in becoming a Smart Destination.
Tías, with a population of around 21,000 inhabitants, receives upwards of 860,000 tourists a year, who spend more than seven million overnight stays between them.
It is widely known for its sun and beach family tourism, offering a wide range of gastronomy and leisure activities.
