Discover the destinations that have implemented the Smart Tourism Destinations diagnosis
The success of the Smart Tourism Destination model proposed by the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism has aroused the interest of many destinations, which since 2013 have been seeking to obtain the Smart Tourism Destination distinction with the help of SEGITTUR. Despite destinations involved in the diagnosis process are completely different, they all have pledged to embrace a methodology that provides a comprehensive approach and offers a strategy for the future, rooted in governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology.
Only those destinations that achieve 80% or more of the requirements set out in the Smart Tourism Destination methodology are worthy of a Smart Tourism Destination distinction. From that moment, these destinations commit themselves to follow a continuous improvement process, since the recognition remains valid for two years, and it is expected that the destination will continue to work in all 5 model axis in order to improve the quality of their tourism offer.
In Spain, the following destinations have achieved this objective: Barcelona, Bilbao, Benidorm, Donostia/San Sebastián, Gijón, Málaga, Tenerife island and Santander.
