The Tourism Quality Plan in the destination is a proposal for the development of a Strategic Tourism Plan encompassing the consensual vision of a group of stakeholders who are actively committed to the long-term revitalisation of the tourism sector in an area.
The aim of the Strategic Tourism Plan is to improve the quality of tourist services, both in companies and in tourist products as well as in public services, with a view to contributing to increasing the satisfaction rates of tourists and consequently, maintaining or improving its long-term positioning by making the commitment to the sustainability of the tourism sector.
Tourism quality is applied to each of the actions implemented. As a result, tourist quality is synonymous with satisfaction, loyalty and the profitability of tourist activity.
In line with the foregoing, it is necessary to increase awareness amongst all private and public stakeholders involved in the tourism sector, as well as local residents themselves, about the importance of tourism in the development of the local and regional economy.
A Tourism Quality Plan, as part of a Strategic Tourism Plan, brings together the following factors: objectives, vision and mission. It is key to strike a balance and strategically plan tourism in the short, medium and long term. The driving force provided by the public administration when implementing public policies will help us to deepen the excellence of products and services, resources, staff and companies in the tourism sector. What’s more, private initiative with purposeful offers will help to promote the development of the tourism quality plan as a whole as part of the strategic tourism plan.
A Tourism Quality Plan in the destination is established with a specific time horizon, which tends to be between four and six years.
