This solution is aligned with feature 11. “Proximity marketing manager” and 12. “Tourist App” of the Smart Tourism Destination Platform.
The proposed service consists of a smart signalling network as well as technological tools for interaction making it possible to improve the tourist experience.
The aim of the action is to develop a smart tourism signalling system based on a network of distributed Beacon-type devices and a mobile app to offer tourist information:
- Smart routes.
- Multimedia contents.
- Detailed information on tourist attractions.
- Relevant notices based on geolocation.
- Other advanced content based on gamification (for example, digital passport, digital treasure hunts, etc.).
The system will also make it possible to obtain information generated by the interaction of citizens and visitors with the system: routes taken by tourists, most visited beacons (points of interest), visiting hours, etc. This information, integrated into a tourism intelligence system, will facilitate the analysis, planning and management tasks of the city’s tourism agents, experts and managers.
The key points of this solution and its contribution to the digitalisation of tourism include, but are not limited to:
- Improved perception of the tourist destination and appreciation as an innovative destination.
- Generation of new tourist products/experiences based on geolocated information.
- Improved efficiency in the management of the tourist destination (use of technical and human resources, tourist information, etc.) by using data and information generated by the system and integrating it into the smart tourism system.
